Pet Group Meeting Minutes: November, 2025

Charlestown Pet Group Meeting Minutes November 25, 2025

David Elder opened the meeting at 11:00. 11 members were in attendance. Minutes from the October Meeting were approved.

Old Business

  • It is imperative that all pet owners read and follow the rules as stated in the Resident’s Handbook Appendix F, or we could lose the privilege of having a pet. The book clearly says, “Pets must be on a leash or in a cage at all times when outside your apartment and should never be allowed to run free.” Your pet should be on a leash, and you should have control. Visitors’ pets must follow the same rules.
  • The Emergency Contact on your refrigerator magnet should be someone who has access to your apartment and is local. The Pet Group leaders and Building Reps do not have access to your apartment.
  • Items are collected for donation to the MDSPCA. If you have any items for donation, bring them to the meeting or contact Elsie Kemp, Otto Greul or Carolyn Troy, BRT09. Contact information can be found in the Resident Directory, available online in MyErickson. If you need any items, let us know and we can check the storage bin.
  • Cat Clinic information There are no scheduled Cat Clinic dates. Please call Dr Nesbitt directly (410-869-0800) for an appointment. If you are looking for a cat vet and can transport your cat, Dr. Nesbitt’s office is on Rt 40 near the Double T Diner.
  • The updated Resource List is now located at ccicharlestown.org. Select Pets at Charlestown, then select Local Pet Resources.

New Business

  • If you are walking a pet after dark, wear visible clothing. David recently encountered someone walking a dog and he could not see the person until the last second. This is a dangerous situation.
  • Karen Thomas told us she uses Pet Smart on Rt 40 (near the Aldi) to trim her cat’s nails and has been very happy with them.
  • The Pet Group google group is up and running. This group will allow Pet Group members rapid communication between meetings. If you are interested in joining this group, send an email to:

pets-at-charlestown-subscribe@googlegroups.com

  • Notify Security if you have a mobile groomer (or other visitor) coming onto Campus. Guards no longer allow visitors to come in without notification. You can call Security or complete the Visitor Notification Form on MyErickson.
  • New resident Charles Schnitzlein asked if there is any chance that the Dog Run by the gardens could be enlarged. We will pass this request onto management.

The group has 237 residents with 203 pets: 116 cats, 85 dogs, & 2 birds

NEXT MEETING –   There will be no meeting in December. Next meeting is January 27, 2026, in Brookside Classroom 2. Meetings are always on the 4th Tuesday at 11AM. (no meeting in July, August, and December). February and March meeting location TBD. [Currently Scheduled for CTS-116].
