Zoom chat is a feature in Zoom Workplace that allows users to send messages, share files, and collaborate while a Zoom meeting is in progress. You capture that information and save it to your own device. If the meeting host has the function enabled, it will be saved to the local computer of the webhost and can be retrieved from them after the meeting.

How to save a Zoom Chat of a meeting you attend

Before you exit the Zoom meeting, access the chat window by clicking on the ellipses (…) at the bottom of the chat window and click Save chat. The file will be saved as a text document. The default place it saves is your Documents folder / Zoom / Folder with meeting name, date, and time.

However, saving Zoom chat directly on an iPad is not supported. The Zoom app for iOS and iPadOS does not currently include a feature to manually or automatically save in-meeting chats locally or to the cloud. This limitation applies to both free and paid accounts, regardless of host permissions.

Alternatives for Saving Chat on an iPad:
1. Request the Host to Share the Chat Transcript: If the host has enabled chat saving, they can share the saved transcript after the meeting.
2. Manually Copy Important Messages: You can copy specific chat messages by tapping and holding on them, then pasting them into another app like Notes.
3. Cloud Recording (Paid Accounts): If you are a host with a paid account, you can enable cloud recording, which saves chats sent to everyone during the meeting. However, this requires accessing the recordings via the Zoom web portal after the meeting.

For full chat-saving functionality, use Zoom on a desktop device where manual and automatic saving options are available.
