Leaving a Legacy
By designating Benevolent Care a recipient of a planned gift, you help secure the financial future of the Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund. When you combine charitable giving with financial and estate planning, your generosity can have a greater impact.
Ways to Leave a Legacy
Entrance Deposit – For many residents, designating all or a portion of their entrance deposit may be the easiest way to make a Legacy. The portion that is not returned to their heirs/estate will be considered a charitable gift. This is fully revocable in the event you should need those funds to pay for your own living expenses through spenddown.
Bequest – By including Charlestown in your will or trust, you can make a donation to the Benevolent Care Fund without diminishing the assets available to you during your life. A bequest can be for a specific dollar amount or property, a percentage of your estate, or for the residual of a trust
Charitable Gift Annuity – One of the most popular ways to receive tax benefits immediately, the resident transfers cash to Charlestown in exchange for a partial tax deduction and a lifetime stream of annual income.
Stocks – When you give appreciated stock or property, you avoid capital gains taxes and are eligible for a charitable gift deduction for the full market value of the stock.
Every resident shares in the responsibility of building a better community. This is what separates Erickson Communities from others. We believe in our mission to create communities that celebrate life.
Lasting Benefits
Recognition is certainly a way to ensure that you will never be forgotten and its inspiring to other residents, prompting many to give. Every donor who gives will receive a naming opportunity that will be a permanent fixture at Charlestown
Legacy Tree
Gifts or pledges of $5,000 will receive a small engraved leaf on the legacy tree.
Gifts of $10,000 receive a large engraved leaf.
Gifts or pledges of $25,000 or more receive an engraved boulder under the Legacy Tree and a special pin.
Residents who pledge 100% of their Entrance Deposit to Benevolent Care will receive a plaque on the donor wall next to the Legacy Tree.
Please visit the Legacy Tree in the lobby of Cross Creek, and view the newly added special “Ruby” donor leaves in honor of Charlestown’s 40th Anniversary. On February 13, 2024 we installed 27 new ruby red leaves ($5k & 10k), 4 boulders ($25k+) and 3 plaques (100% of Entrance Deposit).
