A relatively new scam has callers, texters and emailers warning of an account takeover. Thieves purporting to be from your bank, police, FBI, FTC or Homeland Security are telling victims that they must move their money or risk losing it. They then steer the victim to move their funds to “safety” with the scammers. Hundreds of thousands of dollars each have been lost by many seniors already. If you are contacted by someone who claims to be from your bank, credit card company, law enforcement or the government, do not respond to them. Instead, get help from Security and reach out to an established, verified contact at the company or agency itself.

Do not provide any identifying or account information.

Be careful!
