An Email Still Going Around

A new, insidious scam arrives as an email invitation from a friend or contact, to a dinner party or similar event. The invitation has graphics that make it seem legitimate, and a link to respond. DO NOT RESPOND!

How to handle this scam: First, contact the sender in some other manner than email. Their email address may have been hacked. Call them or text them if you can, to verify that the email invitation you received is a fraud. If you respond to the email, you may be telling the fraudster who you are and they may try to get you to reveal financial information or actually pay them.

I have seen several instances of this scam recently, and you should be alert if you get an email invitation as described.
