3 PM
Brookside Classroom #1
Guest Speaker: Dr. Karl Steiner,
UMVC VP of Research & Creative Achievement
All residents are invited to this presentation.
In 2022, UMBC was designated a Carnegie Research 1 (R1) University, making UMBC one of just 146 academic institutions in the Nation and one of just three in Maryland with this top tier designation.
How did UMBC reach this designation, what does it take to become an R1 institution, and what has been the impact of the R1 institution on the UMBC community?
Dr. Steiner will discuss these and other questions about research universities and provide recent examples of the cutting-edge research conducted at UMBC and the impact on our communities.
