Progressives Together

Bonnie Kawecki, Leader
Progressives Together is a group of residents who are vitally concerned about current issues which affect not only those of us who live at Charlestown, but our children, grandchildren, and indeed, the world. We help each other stay abreast of what is happening, both locally and nationally, in the life of our country. We also plan actions so our voices can be heard. New members and visitors are welcome!

Please come with questions in mind. Below are the questions that were sent out for the meeting with Brooke. Tim will talk for about 10 minutes. There will be about 30 minutes for questions which will probably go into the chat. The last part of the meeting will be for just our group to plan for the July meeting including a change of date.
*Describe the office of Comptroller: employees and roles assigned to them.
*How is the role of Treasurer different from Comptroller?
*How much time does this office spend helping businesses with tax problems?
*How does this office ensure proper taxes are paid by businesses?
*Do neighborhood associations have access to the Comptroller?
*Why do you want to be Maryland’s Comptroller?
*Is issuing contracts to out-of-state contractors a problem?
A few more possible questions:
*What parts of the Comptroller’s job do you consider the most important and why?
*What skills do you have that will make you an effective Comptroller?
*Given the current political situation in Maryland, what do you think will be some of the challenges for you as Comptroller?
*What do you think about the Spring Grove decision? Is there a danger that some of the land might be sold to a developer?
