Pet Group Meeting Minutes October 26
Meeting Minutes 10/26/21
David Elder, the Pet Group Chair, opened the meeting at 11am
Ten members were in attendance.
NOTE: 972 will show pictures taken at the pet blessing during the week of November 1st. Check CHARLESTOWN TODAY sheet for day and time.
Old Business:
Dr. Nesbit, the cat doctor who comes to Charlestown, will be here on November 19th, and December 17th. Dates for 2022 have been scheduled.
Paradise Animal Hospital was to be here October 21st but their one appointment cancelled at the last minute. They will be here November 18th, and December 16th. Due to the CVS renovation the room for the appointments will be in room CTS216 which is near the Fireside restaurant and the pool table area.
The blessing of the pets was held on October 4th with approximately 50 residents and 25 to 30 pets. Fr. Leo was pleased with the attendance.
At a previous meeting someone asked about printed data we had previously handed out. The Maryland Pet Gazette was the publication. They are no longer printing the magazine but promised to send copies of the 2019-2020 (final) printed edition. We are still waiting to get it. They do have material available on line at www.mdpetgazette.com .
New Business:
Remind your pet walker to pick up dog excrement.
Two residents donated dog supplies and pet bedding which was put in the locker to give to the SPCA. We collect old serviceable towels, linens, bedding and pet beds, carriers, liter boxes, leashes, collars, canned and dry food, food bowls, toys, and any and all pet supplies to donate to the SPCA.
It was decided not to make 180 copies of the meeting minutes and the manpower to distribute them but instead to mail them to those in attendance and to email to members we have an email for. It will also be posted on the resident web site ccicharlestown.org/clubs/pet
The group has 107 cats, 73 dogs, 3 birds, and a rabbit and a lizard. But there is no way to know when a resident gets a new pet or loses one.
THE NEXT MEETING IS NOVEMBER 23rd, always on the 4th Tuesday.
