The Maryland Continuing Care Residents Association has a Chapter at Charlestown. MaCCRA is the only organization which is solely dedicated to protecting and advancing the interests of residents of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). We support, empower, and better the lives of residents in Maryland’s continuing care retirement communities through advocacy and education. Charlestown becomes the 18th chapter in Maryland. Membership is $20 per year for an individual and $30 for a couple. The membership year is July to July.
Contact Wendel Thompson for information or check the website at maccra.org. There is a private group on groups.io that is used to share information about the group.
Ann created the following video in June, 2020, which presents background information, mission, and activities of MaCCRA.
MaCCRA is affiliated with the National Continuing Care Residents Association (NaCCRA). Membership is $25 per year for an individual and $45 for a couple. The website is naccra.com
MaCCRA Works for You
This year chapter members were assigned to table for small group discussions. Table members were asked to discuss topics and report back to the group. The intent was to help identify issues for MaCCRA focus in the 2020 General Assembly and to support chapters in recruitment and programming.
MaCCRA will be co-sponsoring the District 7 Candidates Forum on January 18, 2020. This will be an excellent opportunity for residents to hear from the majority of candidates who have entered the race.
Mark your calendars for MaCCRA Day in Annapolis on February 6, 2020.
We meet in the House of Delegates Building and offer a free ride to the event. The Resident Council funds a complimentary shuttle for Charlestown residents interested in attending.
MaCCRA has been representing the interests of CCRC residents since 1994.
Ann MacKay
MaCCRA Chapter and State President
