The LGBT+ Friends & Allies Group welcomes anyone who is a member, friend, or ally, of the LGBT+ community. At present, our meetings consist of informal discussions during which we share, listen, and learn. We are also beginning to plan or support other activities such as Charlestown’s Gay Pride Celebration.

LGBT+ Group Celebrates Gay Pride Month in June
LGBT+ Discussion Group is celebrating Gay Pride Month with two events on June 14, 2019. Barbeque on the Terrace Patio from 4:30 – 630 PM, followed by the showing of the film, Pride (2014), from 7 – 9 PM in the Charlestown Square Classroom 116. Any Charlestown resident, who is interested in showing support for the LGBT+ community, is invited to attend both. However, a RSVP (Contact Bonnie Kawicki or Marty Tewksbury) is required by June 7 for the barbeque, which features fresh cooked burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, potato salad, cookies, and fixings.
The film Pride is based on an actual event that took place in 1984 in Wales. A group of lesbian and gay activists raised money to support a group of striking Welch miners. “In this feel-good, heartwarming comedy, two groups seemingly from worlds apart, discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.” ` ~from the DVD cover~ The film is R-rated. A short discussion will follow for those who would like to stay.
