Charlestown Pet Group Meeting Minutes 05/23/2023

Betty Elder opened the meeting for Chair, David Elder at 11:02. 23 members were in attendance. Minutes from the April Meeting were approved.

Old Business

• It is imperative that all pet owners read and follow the rules as stated in the Resident’s Handbook Appendix E. or we could lose the privilege of having a pet. The book clearly says, “Pets must be on a leash or in a cage at all times when outside your apartment and should never be allowed to run free.” Please remember that some residents have a fear of dogs, and be considerate.
• Meeting Minutes are distributed via email. For those owners who do not have email, a paper copy is put in the cubby.
• It’s time to renew Pet Licenses. Baltimore County and Charlestown require a license for all dogs. Rabies shots much be up to date to obtain a license. To renew online, or get forms, go to:
Apply for and Renew an Animal License >Baltimore County (baltimorecountymd.gov). or call 410-887-3630. If you need help, contact your building rep.
• Items are collected for donation to shelters. If you have any items for donation, bring them to the next meeting or contact Elsie Kemp or Otto Greul, Contact information can be found in the Resident Directory, available on MyErickson.
If you need any items, let them know.
• We need a Building Rep for Brookside. If you’d like to know what this entails, or are interested, contact David Elder.

New Business

• Dave received a call from a resident concerned that dogs are being walked too close to her patio. Appendix E of the Resident Handbook states: “Pets may be walked in any outdoor area but there are some preferences. Please try to avoid walking your pet around high traffic areas or near flower beds or near other people’s patios.” Please be considerate when walking your dog.
• Everyone should have a pawprint magnet for the front door and a refrigerator magnet for important information. If you do not have these, contact your building rep.
• Dave will schedule a meeting with the Building Reps. Tentative Date is Tuesday August 28 22, 2023.
Cat Clinic information: Next dates July 14, September 8 and November 17. Clinics are held In the Cross Creek Arts Room from 8 – 11 am. You must call Dr Nesbitt (410-869-0800) for an appointment.
