The Fireside Artists of Charlestown are off and running with activities for the exciting new year – 2024.

You may be familiar with the artwork of James Jones, one of the outstanding Fireside Artists. His resume of professional artistic accomplishments includes more than 30 years teaching art related courses at Morgan State University, as well as dozens of publications and professional recognition. His paintings will hang during February in the coveted Artist of the Month spot in the Gallery.

Our speaker at the Tuesday, February 13, 2024 general meeting is professional photographer and FAC member Lynn Kochis. She will share her photo expertise with her audience.

Interested in photography since childhood, Lynn admits that her first love was always drawing. She majored in art education in college and taught art for six years in elementary school.

Later, Lynn earned a Certificate in Photography from CCBC, and began Camera Work Images in 1997. During her career she focused on portraits of individuals and groups. She also loved nature photography, and enhanced those photos with scripture, calling them “Nature’s Inspirations.”

In 2007, Lynn moved from film to digital photography, joining the Professional Photographers of America.

In 2020, Lynn put aside her camera and began drawing again, this time very successfully with colored pencils.

You are cordially invited to attend the February general meeting of the Fireside Artists. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. in room 116.
