Sandtown Connection
Lon Chesnutt, Leader
Since the Baltimore uprising in 2015, Charlestown residents have tried to listen, learn, and understand more about Sandtown. Action groups collaborate with the New Song Learning Center, healthy food program, neighborhood cleanup, job training, getting out the vote, advocacy, and supporting youth programs.

Charlestown-Sandtown-Connection October News
The fund-raising for New Song Academy’s opening of school was a huge success! Lon Chessnut said, “It’s the best fundraising we have had.” Of the almost $7500 that came in, $6,000 went to New Song Academy. cSc supports three other non-profit organizations: No Boundaries Coalition, Turnaround Tuesdays, and Jubilee Arts. To learn more about cSc, join the email quarterly newsletter by contacting the editor Ann Mackay. Contact information can be found in the Resident Directory, available on MyErickson.
Donations are always welcome to support the non-profit organizations with whom cSc is partnered. Make your check payable to Charlestown-Sandtown-Connection and mail it to Jim Herman. You will receive a receipt for your records.
The annual presentation about cSC activities takes place Friday, November 17, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gallery in Charlestown Square. This year Cortez Fisher, MBA and New Song alumni will share his story.
