When I think of the many people who make my life hassle- and maintenance-free at Charlestown, I think of Patti in Sales whose cheerful demeanor always makes my day better, Vladimir in Maintenance who handles my every household emergency, Rene, who answers my calls for the Shuttle, Mohammed from Engineering who keeps my HVAC running, Tony in Dining Services, who always has a smile and a welcome at the Terrace Cafe, the EMT staff who responded to my call when I fell in my apartment, and so many others that I could name. In fact, I do not think of these people as “staff,” I think of them as friends and caregivers who make my “home for life” the safe and secure place that it is. This is why I encourage you to say Thank You to those who help you with a generous contribution to the 2023 Staff Appreciation Fund.
Contributions to the Staff Appreciation Fund are a tangible way that you can recognize the hard work our staff members are doing all year round for all of the residents. As in past campaigns, we suggest a contribution of $365 – just a dollar a day! If you can give more this year, please do. If you are not able to give as much as last year, please give as much as you are able. Last year we had a very respectable 73% participation. This year, in conjunction with Charlestown’s 40th anniversary, we would love to have 100% of the households participating so that all our staff members would know how much the entire community values their work and year round support.
Your invitation to participate will be in your cubby on Monday, October 16. It includes a letter from John Remias, president of the Residents’ Council, along with a brochure about this year’s campaign, a pledge card and a return envelope.
Remember that there are many easy options for you to make your contribution:
*Drop your envelope with cash or a check – payable to the CCI Staff Appreciation Fund – in the box at any of the Lobby desks.
*Stop by the Philanthropy Office in Cross Creek to make a one-time or a monthly contribution to the fund using a credit card, or
*Add your contribution to your monthly bill. Instead of writing a large check each year, consider contributing monthly on your bill.
This year’s campaign will run from Monday, October 16 through Friday, November 10. Funds will be deposited or distributed to the staff during the first week of December.
