We’ve just started a new year, and the need for volunteers is already on the increase. Here are some brand new on-campus opportunities… perhaps YOU would be a good fit?

For more information on other volunteer activities, contact Kathleen Hart at 410-737-8838, Ext. 8133 or stop by the Volunteer Program Office in Building 2 (near the Terrace Café, next to the Model Railroad room).

ELLIC Membership Chairperson:
Our ELLIC team (Elderhostel Lifelong Learning Institute of Charlestown) is in need of a new MEMBERSHIP CHAIRPERSON, someone to supervise the distribution of “Reminder Cards” to all residents that have reserved class space. You will be receiving pre-printed “reminder cards” each week from the ELLIC team, then you would supervise the 5 volunteer residents who deliver the cards to cubbies. “Reminder Cards” are sent out 7-10 days prior to each scheduled and reserved class. Charlestown’s popular ELLIC courses and programs are most always a sell-out, so these reservation reminders are important.

Are you a reliable, organized self-starter that would like to help our hugely successful in-house ELLIC program? Can you oversee and inspire 5 of your fellow residents in the timely delivery of class reminders? If so, please contact: Ms. Gif Intlekofer, ELLIC Moderator. [Check the Resident Directory in MyErickson for contact information.]

Wheelchair Escorts:
We have an ongoing need for men and women who’d love to help a fellow resident enjoy some of the many musical activities that take place on campus. Our residents in Assisted Living and Continuing often need WHEELCHAIR ESCORTS to take them to-and-from a concert or sing-along. Saturday afternoons in the RG Meeting Hall, and Sunday afternoon concerts in the OLOA Chapel are very popular and well-attended, but there’s often a shortage of staff to escort every resident that wants to attend.

So, if you are a music lover that would like to help out a fellow music lover… and if you are energetic, able-bodied and can spare a couple of hours on a weekend, please contact: Kathleen Hart in the Volunteer Program office: 410-737-8838, Ext. 8133.
