We will be saying goodbye to many of our remaining scholarship award students as they venture off to their respective colleges this month.

The Charlestown Scholar Fund has over one hundred students that will be attending college and universities this fall. The Philanthropy Staff are currently processing checks to contribute to our scholars education as their individual reward for working at Charlestown for at least 1000 hours and having a minimum 2.5 GPA. Each scholarship is $1500 per year to which we are committed for the next 4 years for each student. All the scholarships are paid directly to colleges or universities and not to the student.

Our official Scholar Fund Campaign will again kick-off next March but if you have never donated to the Scholar fund, it may be more convenient to sign up for a monthly deduction on your Resident Account (any amount you are comfortable with), or a Credit Card charge (minimum $20) or just drop off a check or cash (any amount) at the Philanthropy Office in Cross Creek all year round. Consider it as a thank you to all the student servers and kitchen staff that wait on you everyday. All the monies collected are dedicated to the Scholars Fund and are 100% tax deductible.

We thank each of our residents who make donations to the Scholar Fund. These scholarships help to alleviate some of the financial burden our student employees experience during their college years.

Any Scholar Fund questions may be directed to our Scholar Committee members:  Art and Michelle Chenoweth, Pat Kasuda, Leigh Anne Cooper, Betty Ruff, Norma Goldberg, Roland Gray and Charlie Eichenlaub or to the Philanthropy Office at 410-737-8892. Also stop by and say hello at our table during the Fruits of our Labor event on September 30. We will be glad to answer any questions then too.
