Charlestown Pet Group Meeting Minutes 03/28/2023

David Elder, Chair, opened the meeting at 11:02. 20 members were in attendance.
Minutes from the February Meeting were approved.

Old Business

David and Otto maintain the list of Pet owners and pets.
The list is sorted by building. It shows the building representative.
They rely on US to keep the list current.  David “deputized” all of us. If you have a change in your home, or know of a change for anyone else, please let Otto know.
Items are collected for donation to shelters. If you have any items for donation bring them to the next meeting or contact Elsie Kemp or Otto Greul. Contact information can be found in the Resident Directory, available on MyErickson.

If you need any items, let them know.

New Business

There was recently an incident with a dog on campus. It is imperative that all pet owners read and follow the rules as stated in the Resident’s Handbook Appendix E. or we could lose the privilege of having a pet. The book clearly says: “Pets must be on a leash or in a cage at all times when outside your apartment and should never be allowed to run free”.
Resident Sandy Flaherty in Harbor View is looking for someone who can help her out by walking her dog when she is unable to do that. Rascal is a mid-sized dog. There are days when she is unable to take him out. If you can help her with her dog, contact her. She is listed in the current Pet directory.
The Pet Group is not included in the upcoming Expo. We will look into the next one and try to be included.
New Tri-fold Pet group flyers are available at front desks.
Did you know that there are 2 Dog Parks at Charlestown? One is in the historic area next to the community garden. The second is on Erickson Way across the street from Herbert’s Run and the Maintenance area.
If you have a dog that would be a good candidate for visiting Continuing Care, consider doing that. The residents there like to see the pets. Someone asked if these pets would be allowed on the shuttle since it might be far to walk there. We will check that out for the next meeting.
Is there anyone at Charlestown who can trim cat claws?
