Stitches from the Heart had a great year. In 2016 the group knitted and crocheted 1650 hats, blankets, sacks, mittens and booties for premature babies and children up to age 3.
Using our own patterns and yarn, we meet at 6:30 P.M. the fourth Tuesday of the month in Brookside Classroom 2.
As we work and exchange ideas, an Arbutus volunteer, Gretchen Kohweller, comes with a bundle of shopping bags to collect our work. At home, Gretchen washes all of the items and then delivers them to Mercy Medical Center where they will be given to families. The little hats on the babies’ heads and the blankets keeping the babies warm bring smiles to family and staff.
