scholarshipEmily Gollery Fowler began her working career in the Atrium Dining Room in 1992 while attending Catonsville High School.  Awarded a Charlestown Scholarship to attend Catonsville Community College and the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Emily earned a degree in Sociology.  She continued working at Charlestown in Staff Development and as a Human Resources Manager until transferring to the Philanthropy Department as a Coordinator in 2014.

Pictured here with her family: husband Anthony and children Andrew, 8, and Lauren, 5, Emily is a fine example of the success of our Scholarship Program.  Emily now helps guide our current student employees through our Scholarship Program process.  emilyOnce they are off to school, Emily then monitors their collegiate progress along with fellow Coordinator Brittany Owens, another of our Charlestown Scholars who now works part-time with our Philanthropy Department.  Together with the Director of Philanthropy, Patti Santoni, Emily and Brittany are entrusted by our residents to orchestrate the Scholarship Program with the integrity we residents depend upon.

Currently, the dining managers have distributed scholarship applications to our prospective scholar candidates who need to turn them in to the Philanthropy Department by February 5th.  Philanthropy will then ensure the students meet the minimum criteria and invite them to mandatory Scholar Meetings in the Auditorium on February 16th and 17th where they will receive their Scholarship Questionnaire Packets that need to be completed and returned to Philanthropy by March 18th.

Any questions regarding the Charlestown Scholar Program may be directed to our Scholar Committee members:  Art and Michelle Chenoweth, Pat Kasuda, Leigh Anne Cooper, Betty Ruff, Norma Goldberg, Roland Gray and Charlie Eichenlaub.

Please make a personal note that the Scholarship Donation Campaign begins March 14 and continues through May 6.  All donations are 100 per cent Tax Deductible.  Please be generous.  The students need our help!
