United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women is a group of Christian Women who are or have been associated with some United Methodist Church in the area, although this is not a requisite; all women are welcome. Members gather once a month for an hour of prayer and Christian fellowship. Programs very from mission studies to guest speakers and service projects.

Social Strollers

The Social Strollers meet at the Fireside Monday, Wednesday, Friday and start walking at 8:00 AM.  The strollers stop for coffee  and a visit at Cross Creek before the walk back.

Little Theatre Company

The Little Theater Company, Inc. is a 20-year-old organization at Charlestown which aims to bring theatrical experiences and enjoyment to members and residents. Its incorporated status permits it to associate with or to serve the outside community. Membership is open.

History of Nature Trail

The Nature Trail was the brainchild of architect Paul Gaudreau (1914-1995), who with his wife Margaret, moved into Brookside in 1993. Soon thereafter he posed his idea for a Nature Trail, which would follow our stream (Herbert Run) through the woods on campus.  John Erickson liked the idea, and wheels were set in motion.  The Trail was built and informally used in 1994-5, but officially dedicated in 1996. Mr. Gaudreau was the first Chairperson of the new Nature Trail Committee.
