History
The Charlestown Scholarship Program was established in 1988 by John Erickson. To date, generous residents have contributed more than $4 million to provide scholarships to more than 1,300 employees for post-high school education in any accredited college, university, trade or vocational program.
This unique program supports the mission of Charlestown to support our employees and offer opportunities for growth and advancement. For many of our scholarship recipients, the awards make a difference in their ability to continue their education and follow their dreams.

Help us to Celebrate the 35th Annual Scholars’ Program!

As the Community celebrates its exciting 40th Anniversary, we also celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Charlestown Scholars’ Program. This year 19 employees have qualified as Candidates. Posters with our scholar candidates’ photos can be found outside each dining room.
By now you should have received the campaign materials.
The Scholar Campaign will end on April 30 and our goal is to raise $200,000. This year, we increased each Scholarship to $4,000 per year for all the students in the program. This group of 19 will be joining the 100 current Scholars that are supported by this program. This is your chance to make a difference and to help change a young person’s life for the better.
In addition to our Charlestown Scholarship, we offer special Named Scholarships. We are pleased to offer two new Named Scholarships for 2023. One is the Donald Brodeur “Joy of Learning” scholarship and the other is “Your Future is Now” scholarship, from an anonymous resident donor.
The gift of education is priceless, and Donations are 100% tax-deductible as allowed by law. Please encourage your friends and family outside of Charlestown to support our students. You may also share this link: elm.convio.net/CharlestownSCH
