Fireside Artists of Charlestown
Joni Guhne, Leader
Sandy Mack, Treasurer
In 2010 a small group of Charlestown residents hung some paintings in the Fireside dining room. They became the Fireside Artists. Today, with more than 30 members, the Fireside Artists are residents who enjoy every artistic endeavor: drawing, painting, sculpting, and making jewelry. They currently install a new show in the Gallery in April and October.
Everyone is welcome.

The Gallery News: March 2024
Welcome to the wonderful world of art presented by the Fireside Artists of Charlestown (FAC). Even before the creation of the FAC in 2010, there was a strong sense of art appreciation throughout the Charlestown community.
According to The History of Charlestown by John J. Strumsky, Jr., residents held their first Annual Art Show featuring the work of 16 artists on May 16, 1991. Then in 1999, a display titled “Art Blooms at Charlestown” was created by the Charlestown Garden Club. The colors and designs of residents’ paintings were translated into floral arrangements with stunning results.
The early art shows were installed either in Charlestown Square or Cross Creek Station. After its completion as part of the Charlestown Square renovations in 2013, The Gallery became home to installations of paintings and photography created by the FAC.
A new presentation of FAC artwork occurs twice a year on a Friday in April and October. On the Saturday following each installation, an afternoon reception is held for the entire campus.
The Tuesday March 12 FAC general meeting will take place in The Gallery. Professional photographer and Charlestown resident Lynn Kochis will continue to share her expertise. She will illustrate the techniques required to create the perfect portrait photograph.
