A new phishing scam exploits realistic-looking spoofs of Paperless Post, Evite and Punchbowl email invitations to get control of your email, passwords and computer data, the New York Times reports.
You should make sure that any link you click on is from a real invitation. What appears to be from a friend may be a fraud.
To test if it’s a real invitation, DO NOT CLICK on the link in the email. Instead, reach out directly to the apparent sender or the real online invitation site, using a known link or, better yet, make a phone call.
