Charlestown Laundry Room Battery Recycling Stops September 14
Effective Monday, September 14, 2026, Charlestown will no longer collect and recycle household batteries due to changes in Baltimore County regulations. As a result, battery collection containers will be removed from all laundry rooms.
Most household batteries may now be disposed of in your regular household trash.
However, lithium and rechargeable batteries should not be placed in regular trash. We also ask that these batteries not be left in laundry rooms after the collection containers are removed.
Alternative disposal options and resources for lithium and rechargeable batteries include:
- Western Acceptance Facility (Halethorpe)
- Local home improvement stores
- Consumer electronics retailers
- MDRecycle.org
- Baltimore County Government website
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our community safe by ensuring batteries are disposed of properly.
Michele Fenn, Housekeeping Manager
