Whether you have a great-grand with a dollhouse, display a little house of your own, or are just enthralled by tiny things, the Treasure Chest  is currently showing a fabulous shelf full of miniature goodies.  With one exception, all items are in 1:12 (standard dollhouse) scale.

Every tiny item was donated by a former dollhouse builder, National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts member, and knowledgeable long-time collector, so shoppers are quite likely to find something unique.  A vignette created atop a wonderful dropleaf table features

a miniscule set of measuring spoons, a couple of whisks, and some fun-filled bowls of cooking ingredients.  A nursery scene includes a “baby” sister in an antique metal highchair watching “big sister” serve tea from a minute (1:24 scale) set of Bazaar-ware.

And if it’s tiny accessories you’re looking for, there are several table lamps (non-working), as well as a collection of beautiful umbrella stands, two complete with umbrellas, and a pair of empty stands, one purchased at the London Dolls’ House in Covent Garden, London.   There’s even a tool box and chest for the man of the house!

The Treasure Chest is at Terrace Level in Brookside near the Laundry Room and Community Resources office, and is open most Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

*The inventory of all three of Charlestown’s Treasure shops depends on resident donations;  buyers can recycle items they no longer need by calling  410-737-8838 ext. 601-8124 to arrange a Treasure Sale Pickup beginning August 4.
