Since encouraging formation of independent redistricting commissions is one of the five MD FWD priorities, our club may soon be asked to help in the effort to get the ball rolling on this. Probably best we are familiar with the official statement from MD FWD and recent actions being taken in the legislature.

We realize that this is a fast moving issue. We realize that this is complex and that a simple for-or-against solution may not be nuanced enough to resolve this issue. We also acknowledge the related national crisis facing our democracy and the need for thoughtful resolution, to face this growing challenge head on.
