The Fireside Artists of Charlestown invite you to join us in discovery, in what’s happening in the many fields of art – painting, photography, ceramics, fiber art, and so much more – as we explore the possibilities.

Don’t let the limitations of inexperience or expertise, for that matter, stop you. The FAC is here for everyone.

At our January meeting we will explore the exciting possibilities of what members are up to. Is it a new project or one that has been on the back burner for a while? Does the work involve a new medium, surface or subject? What will others suggest to improve the end result? This is a stimulating, motivational program that everyone looks forward to.

And you are invited to come along for the ride. The FAC will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 9 in room 116.

January Artist of the Month in the Gallery is Peg Buehlman.

Peg says, “I started painting watercolor when I turned 70. I’d never sketched or painted in my life, so I joined a watercolor class at the Ellicott City Senior Center, and to my amazement, I wasn’t too bad.

“When my husband, Mark, and I moved to Charlestown 2 ½ years ago, I was in awe of the paintings in the Gallery. I met Vicki Barr who encouraged me to join the Fireside Artists. Would they hang my paintings in the Gallery? Absolutely, was Vicki’s reply.

“I’ll never forget the day I stood in the Gallery with Vicki and Sandy Mack, tears in my eyes, as my paintings were hung.

“I’ve continued to paint because of Vicki’s encouragement. One of my paintings is of tulips, and it is dedicated to Vicki Barr. I call it “Inspiration.”
