Charlestown DEIB Council

Diversity/Inclusion/Belonging
Charlestown has a DEIB committee led by team members and residents. The goal is to promote a deeper sense of belonging by providing awareness, education, and celebrations for cultural, heritage, and pride months throughout the year. The Charlestown Board provides their full support and sponsorship of the DEIB Committee and our diversity, equity, includion and belonging efforts.
The DEIB Joint Council is composed of 8 residents and 8 employees with the Executive Director as its sponsor and meets once a month to plan events relevant to the Charlestown Community.
Purpose – As individuals, and as members of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Joint Council, and the Charlestown community, we are committed to promoting a culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging by:
a. Seeking to understand and embrace all traditions and cultures and consistently welcoming and acknowledging diverse thoughts, ideas and input.
b. Identifying and promoting educational opportunities on topics of diversity for residents and staff in order to encourage the behaviors and actions of accepting and appreciating diversity.
c. Celebrating diverse cultures and experiences through community events as a means to increase understanding about diversity and inclusion and encourage civil discussion.
