Keeping You Engaged & Informed

Mask Making Initiative: Our amazing mask-making crew has managed to make 732 masks! The lives of hospice workers from Gilchrist, residents, and employees have been touched and made safer due to your efforts. Thank you to all who are participating and finding ways to serve during this pandemic!
Bingo: We now have 137 bi-weekly BINGO participants who “gather” together via video or phone to enjoy an hour of excitement with a dedicated host, Pam Stiner. It’s not too late to be a part of the festivities! In addition to the fun, the prizes are great, too!
Poetry Competition: We have received several entries into the contest. Reading them has brought tears to our eyes and helped us feel more connected to you all – we miss you! We are excited to share these poems with you in the near future.
Daily Word Puzzles, etc.: Currently, we have 216 residents participating. These puzzles are bringing joy and prizes to many! Feel free to sign up any time.
Earth Day Planting: Participants will receive their supplies this coming week. We are all excited to see some new life bloom, so please share your pictures with us during this process.

US Holocaust Museum: Get a glimpse of the museum and Holocaust through their Online exhibitions
ExoPlanets NASA: Explore the planets beyond our solar system.
Nature Viewing: Dive into the world’s largest live nature network and view their nature live cams and various videos.
The Great Brain Workout: Join the Facebook group dedicated to maintaining cognitive health as we age. They have free classes during the pandemic.
Pinterest: You can spend hours on this site exploring DIY (do it yourself) crafts, recipes, home decorating and many more topics. You can make your own resource board and share it with family/friends. Exploring other’s boards is also a great way to get to know more about the people you care about and their interests. Pinterest
Staying Apart Together Newsletter: USA Today has a bi-weekly newsletter about coping with the pandemic and its effects on your life.
Virginia Stage Company Online Classes: Brush up on your acting skills by participating in these free classes.
Virtual Day Trips: Join Readers Digest and choose you’re your travel destination for the day.
Learn a new Language: Edx has listings from various colleges of free online language courses.
Card Games with Friends/Family: Use this website to either play against your friends, family, or be paired with someone new.
Quarantine Chat: Chat with others who are stuck at home.

In Apartment Scavenger Hunt: Join us for a scavenger hunt around your apartment. If interested in participating, contact us to receive a list of items and instructions on how to play. Weekly Topic Writing/Journaling: We will be adding a weekly topic to our newsletter every week to spark ideas to write/journal about. Keep them for yourself or get your loved ones to participate, then share your writings with each other. This is a great way to get even closer to your loved ones.

Happy Hour with Sherry: Weekly happy hour on Channel 972 with Sherry Parrish and a new special guest every week. Tune into CH 972 at 5:30 pm every Friday.

Exercise: Spice up your exercise by using household products. Cans, laundry detergent bottles/boxes, and water bottles can all be used as weights. If you need heavier weights, a cloth grocery bag can hold as many or as few cans as you need to obtain the weight you are looking for. The wall can be used for stability while stretching. Hold onto the back of a chair while bending your knees/ squatting or going up on your toes for calf stretches. A chair is also great for extra stability during yoga. The countertop can be used to do modified standing pushups.
