Living at Charlestown, what an adventure! In less than two years I have participated in many of Charlestown’s myriad activities. I currently serve as Assistant Chair of the Residents’ Council Dining Committee, contributor to the Sunburst and Marketing Photo Shoot, and Eucharistic Minister at OLOA Chapel. I have been a Registered Dental Hygienist, Clinical Instructor, Financial Aid Director, Consultant, and Skills Facilitator always focusing on giving voice to diverse populations. I retired from Johns Hopkins in 2008. I believe that I can continue to contribute to the Residents’ Council by putting to use my volunteer experience. My strengths are interpersonal relations, organizing, improving productivity, and maintaining an excellent level of customer satisfaction.

Mimi O’Donnell

Since December 2018 I have marveled at the beauty, efficiency, and friendliness of my new home. My background, BA Psychology, MBA Management, and years in community service, including member/officer of multiple Boards/Commissions, have prepared me for the Residents’ Council. I joined the Little Theatre Company, immediately became the Secretary, and had a role in the spring play. I have been an ELLIC presenter and am serving on the Scholars and Staff Appreciation Fund Committees, in addition to working to the start of the Cheer Group and Boomers. Continuing the maintenance of our clean, enchanting, and healthy community with well-rounded programs for residents of all ages and abilities is of utmost importance.

My husband and I moved to Charlestown in July 2019 and were warmly welcomed by our new neighbors. That made it easy to get involved! I am active as a Sixty Minutes Visitor and serve with my husband as Co-Captain of the Brookside Treasure Sale. My professional career has been exciting and varied ranging from community organizing to serving as the Secretary of the Maryland Dept. of Housing and Community Development. My “encore” career has been serving congregations as an ordained Lutheran pastor. I love working with people and groups committed to building community and achieving common goals. I am grateful that Charlestown is a place where there are so many opportunities to do this.
